SNAP Food Replacement Assistance – Deadline Extended
If you receive SNAP benefits and lost food because of Tropical Cyclone Lala—including food spoiled during prolonged power outages, flooding, or other storm-related household impacts—you may be eligible for replacement SNAP benefits. The Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services has extended the statewide deadline to September 3, 2026. Current SNAP recipients must submit a signed written statement that includes the participant’s name, specific date of food loss, estimated dollar value of food lost, what happened, and contact information. Another person may submit the statement for you, but the SNAP recipient must sign it. DHS advises that the Kaʻu–Nāʻālehu and Kohala offices remain closed until further notice, so documents should be submitted to another DHS Processing Center. For assistance, call 1-855-643-1643.
