At Support Local Hawaii, kuleana means more than just responsibility—it’s a sacred commitment to uplift, protect, and perpetuate what makes Hawaiʻi truly special: its people, its ʻāina (land), and its culture.
We embrace the Hawaiian value of laulima (“many hands working together”) by fostering collective action, cooperation, and deep connection across our islands. Our kuleana is to serve as a bridge—one that connects the past to the future, locals to visitors, and community efforts to global impact.
Inspired by the ancestral wisdom of the ahupuaʻā system (an integrated land management practice that honored the relationship between land, water, and people), our work is guided by the principle that everything is connected. Just as the ahupuaʻā sustained thriving communities for generations, we believe that a wholistic, regenerative approach will sustain Hawaiʻi’s future.
