Aloha and welcome to Support Local Hawaii.

Our mission is to strengthen Hawaii’s local Culture, Community, and Ecosystems by connecting residents, visitors, nonprofits, businesses, creators, and community organizations through a platform built on Aloha, Kuleana (responsibility), and Mālama (care).

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) explain the rules for using Support Local Hawaii and our related services. By accessing or using our website, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the platform.

ABOUT SUPPORT LOCAL HAWAII

Support Local Hawaii is a non-denominational Stewardship ʻOhana created to serve Hawaii’s Culture, Communities, and Ecosystems. It exists to help people, organizations, businesses, farmers, practitioners, stewards, projects, resources, knowledge, stories, events, and opportunities discover and strengthen one another through shared stewardship, participation, and collaboration.

Support Local Hawaii operates in service rather than for profit. It is not a commercial marketplace, vendor service, or intermediary for transactions. The platform does not sell goods or services, charge fees for participation or listings, or accept payments or donations in exchange for inclusion in the stewardship ecosystem. Its purpose is to provide connective infrastructure that helps make existing people, work, knowledge, resources, and opportunities more discoverable and more connected.

Support Local Hawaii does not own or control the stewardship ecosystem. The ecosystem belongs to Hawaii’s people and places. SLH’s role is to help strengthen the relationships within that ecosystem while honoring community agency, cultural knowledge, trust, and the principle that leadership is stewardship rather than authority.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, Support Local Hawaii is not a party to transactions, agreements, services, or other arrangements between independent people, businesses, nonprofits, organizations, practitioners, stewards, or other third parties that may be discovered through the platform. Participation in or discovery through the platform does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee, partnership, agency relationship, or representation that SLH controls the activities of those third parties.

WHO WE ARE

Support Local Hawaii is a stewardship organization dedicated to strengthening and connecting Hawaii’s Culture, Communities, and Ecosystems.

Kind Cloud Solutions is the technology and social enterprise partner of Support Local Hawaii. Support Local Hawaii and Kind Cloud Solutions are distinct organizations connected by a shared purpose. Kind Cloud Solutions may provide technology, infrastructure, development, maintenance, security, administrative, and other operational services that support the Support Local Hawaii platform.

For purposes of these Terms of Service, references to the “platform,” “website,” “services,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to Support Local Hawaii and, where applicable to the operation and administration of the platform, Kind Cloud Solutions.

Support Local Hawaii and Kind Cloud Solutions are based in Hawaiʻi, a territory administered by the United States as the State of Hawaii, whose political and legal status remains the subject of historical and legal dispute, including claims concerning the continuing sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to resolve, waive, endorse, or prejudice any claim concerning the political, legal, or sovereign status of Hawaiʻi. References to governmental jurisdictions or laws are made for purposes of describing applicable legal and operational requirements.

ELIGIBILITY

You must be at least 18 years old or have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use certain features of the platform.

If you use the platform on behalf of a business, nonprofit, or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to act on its behalf.

YOUR ACCOUNT

If you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information.

• Keep your information current.

• Maintain the confidentiality of your password.

• Notify us promptly of unauthorized account activity.

• Follow the Stewardship Participation & Platform Agreement.

You are responsible for activity occurring under your account.

ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree to use Support Local Hawaii respectfully and lawfully.

You may not:

• Violate any law or regulation.

• Submit false or misleading information.

• Impersonate another individual or organization.

• Harass, threaten, or abuse others.

• Upload malicious software.

• Attempt unauthorized access to the platform.

• Interfere with website operations.

• Use automated scraping tools without written permission.

• Post unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, or infringing content.

We reserve the right to remove content or restrict accounts that violate these standards.

COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Support Local Hawaii exists to strengthen community.

We encourage respectful conversations, honest business practices, and constructive participation.

Users are expected to engage with aloha, integrity, and mutual respect.

Repeated violations of these principles may result in account suspension or removal.

USER CONTENT

You retain ownership of the content you submit.

By submitting content—including reviews, photos, business information, articles, comments, or event listings—you grant Support Local Hawaii a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, modify for formatting purposes, promote, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the platform.

You represent that you have the rights necessary to share any content you upload.

LISTINGS

Steward profile owners are responsible for ensuring that listings remain accurate.

Support Local Hawaii may edit listings for formatting, clarity, or policy compliance but does not guarantee completeness or accuracy.

We reserve the right to remove listings that violate these Terms or our community standards.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Support Local Hawaii name, logo, branding, graphics, original website design, articles, and other original content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except where otherwise permitted, you may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit our original content without written permission.

COPYRIGHT CONCERNS

If you believe content on our platform infringes your copyright, please contact us with sufficient information to investigate and respond appropriately.

We respect intellectual property rights and will review legitimate notices promptly.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Our website may include links to third-party websites, products, services, payment processors, maps, videos, or social media platforms.

We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services.

Your interactions with those services are governed by their own terms and policies.

AVAILABILITY

We strive to keep the platform available and up to date.

However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access and may suspend services temporarily for maintenance, upgrades, security, or unforeseen circumstances.

DISCLAIMER

Support Local Hawaii provides information and services on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

While we work hard to provide accurate information, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of all content, listings, or services.

Users are responsible for evaluating organizations, businesses, projects, events, and services independently.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Support Local Hawaii shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform.

INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Support Local Hawaii and its owners, stewards, volunteers, contributors, affiliates, and partners from claims arising out of your use of the platform, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms.

TERMINATION

You may close your account at any time.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, applicable laws, or community standards.

Certain provisions—including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution—remain in effect after account termination.

GOVERNING LAW

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable federal law of the United States and applicable law presently administered within Hawaiʻi under the governmental authority exercising jurisdiction there as the State of Hawaii, to the extent such law is applicable and enforceable. Nothing in these Terms shall be construed as an acknowledgment, recognition, waiver, relinquishment, endorsement, or prejudice of any claim, position, right, or interest concerning the political, legal, or sovereign status of Hawaiʻi, including any claim concerning the continuing existence or sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom. References in these Terms to the United States, Hawaiʻi, the State of Hawaii, governmental authorities, courts, statutes, regulations, or other legal requirements are made solely for purposes of identifying applicable legal and operational requirements and shall not constitute or be construed as a determination of Hawaii’s political, legal, or sovereign status.

RESOLVING DISPUTES

If a dispute arises, we encourage both parties to first attempt to resolve the matter informally by contacting us.

If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be submitted to binding arbitration in the State of Hawaii, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms limits either party’s ability to seek appropriate injunctive or equitable relief when necessary.

FORCE MAJEURE

Support Local Hawaii shall not be liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, power outages, internet disruptions, labor disputes, governmental actions, or other extraordinary events.

CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms as our platform evolves.

Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated Effective Date.

Continued use of the platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
