Regenerative Farming & Education in Kohala
Located in the lush, historic lands of North Kohala on the Big Island, HIP Agriculture is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable farming practices and food sovereignty through regenerative agriculture. Founded in 2011, HIP Agriculture provides hands-on education and training to inspire the next generation of farmers and land stewards. With a mission rooted in indigenous wisdom and modern permaculture techniques, the farm cultivates a wide variety of crops, including traditional Polynesian staples like kalo (taro), ‘ulu (breadfruit), and tropical fruits.

HIP Agriculture serves as both a working farm and an ecological learning center, offering community workshops, youth programs, and farmer training courses. Their work extends beyond the farm through the Kohala Food Hub, which connects local farmers with the community by providing fresh produce and building a more sustainable local food economy.

Visitors can engage with HIP Ag by joining farm tours, attending workshops, or even staying at the Starseed Ranch, an off-grid eco-lodge on the property. By blending education, sustainable practices, and cultural preservation, HIP Agriculture is leading a movement toward food sovereignty and environmental stewardship in Hawaii.
