Empowering Hawaiian Culture Through Music
Kuʻulei Perreira-Keawekane is a talented musician and educator from Hilo, Big Island, with a deep-rooted passion for promoting Hawaiian culture through her music and teachings. Fluent in Hawaiian and a strong advocate for cultural preservation, Kuʻulei uses her platform to create social movement and positive change. Her music blends Hawaiian traditions with contemporary influences, drawing inspiration from artists like India Arie, Lauryn Hill, and fellow Hawaiian musicians such as Hāwane Rios and Kaʻikena Scanlan.
Born and raised in the vibrant communities of Panaʻewa and Keaukaha, Kuʻulei’s work goes beyond music, as she actively participates in Native Hawaiian programs and teaches youth about the cultural significance of Aloha ʻĀina (love for the land). She is involved in writing and performing music that draws from Hawaii’s indigenous history, including her recent compositions inspired by archival Hawaiian newspapers.
Collaborations: Kuʻulei partners with organizations such as Ola Brew and the Hawaiʻi ʻUlu Co-Op to support local businesses and cultural initiatives. She continues to teach and inspire through her work in both music and education.
