Empowering West Kauaʻi Through Culture and Sustainability
Kumano I Ke Ala (KIKA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and social enterprise dedicated to revitalizing West Kauaʻi through the restoration of native lands, food system transformation, workforce training, and youth development. Guided by Native Hawaiian values like aloha ʻāina (love for the land) and laulima (many hands working together), KIKA is deeply committed to preserving Hawaiian culture while empowering the community.
KIKA’s efforts include programs that teach youth sustainable farming practices, build cultural knowledge, and foster self-sufficiency through hands-on training in agriculture and indigenous construction methods like hale building. They offer employment readiness training, provide mentorship, and promote regenerative agricultural practices that uplift the local economy while reducing reliance on imported food.
