Laulau Solutions is a grassroots nonprofit based on Oahu, dedicated to restoring the health, economy, and land management of Hawaii through traditional practices and education. Founded during the COVID-19 lockdown, Laulau Solutions focuses on reviving traditional Hawaiian agricultural methods, including the restoration of lo‘i kalo (taro patches) and other traditional crops such as ulu, uala, and mai‘a.
With a mission deeply rooted in Hawaiian cultural heritage, Laulau Solutions engages the community through its aina-based curriculum, teaching keiki (children) and adults alike about sustainable farming and the cultural significance of traditional foods. Their work extends beyond farming, promoting healthier living and preserving the cultural practices that are vital to Hawaii’s identity.
By managing a 13-acre land restoration project, Laulau Solutions is on a journey to produce and process food sustainably while offering education to the local community. They provide volunteer opportunities, hands-on farm experiences, and educational programs that connect the community to their cultural roots and promote environmental stewardship.
