From the Heart of Hawaii’s Cacao Fields
Founded in 2012, Puna Chocolate Company is a family-owned and operated business that produces premium, single-origin Hawaiian chocolate using cacao grown exclusively on the Big Island of Hawaii. Based in Hilo, with an additional location in Kona, Puna Chocolate Company has grown over 25,000 cacao trees across 55 acres of sustainable farmland, making them one of the leaders in Hawaii’s cacao industry.

Puna Chocolate’s mission is to craft true bean-to-bar chocolate that captures the unique flavors of Hawaiian-grown cacao. By partnering with local farmers, they ensure that their products are not only delicious but also support the local agricultural community. Their diverse offerings range from classic dark chocolate bars to innovative flavor combinations like macadamia nut & toasted coconut, as well as collaborations with local brewers and wineries for chocolate-mead pairings.

In addition to their exceptional chocolate products, Puna Chocolate Company offers farm tours that allow visitors to experience the full chocolate-making process—from cacao cultivation to the final product. Their tours in Kona include visits to their cacao orchards, where you can witness their sustainable farming techniques firsthand.

Whether you’re indulging in their handcrafted chocolates or visiting their café in Hilo for a specialty coffee and dessert, Puna Chocolate Company is committed to delivering a taste of Hawaii in every bite.
