ʻIewe Hānānau o ka ʻĀina — Kōkua Kaʻū Hurricane Lala Recovery Support

ʻIewe Hānau o ka ʻĀina is a Kaʻū-based nonprofit working directly with local ʻohana impacted by Hurricane Lala.
Based in Waiohinu and rooted in the communities it serves, the organization has direct connections with families throughout Waiohinu, Nāʻālehu, and the surrounding Kaʻū community. In the aftermath of Hurricane Lala, ʻIewe Hānau o ka ʻĀina launched its Kōkua Kaʻū – Hurricane Lala Recovery Support effort to help get urgently needed resources directly into the hands of affected ʻohana.
Current Needs
ʻIewe Hānau o ka ʻĀina is currently seeking donations of:
- Propane tanks
- Drinking water
- Water jugs / Igloo-style containers
- Small butane stoves
- Butane refills
- Small green butane canisters for camping stoves
- Monetary donations
- Please check their website for updates
According to the organization, 100% of donations collected for its Hurricane Lala recovery effort are being given directly to ʻohana in Kaʻū.
