Restoring Native Hawaiian Healing with Purpose, Spirit, and Aloha ʻĀina
At Support Local Hawaii, we’re proud to showcase Maʻiola Services at Waimānalo Health Center as a Diamond Listing—a shining example of cultural resilience, health sovereignty, and aloha in action.
Maʻiola is more than a service. It’s a movement—a space where Native Hawaiian healing practices are restored, respected, and integrated into modern healthcare to uplift individuals, ʻohana, and ʻāina.
Founded on the teachings of Kahuna Levon Ohai, Maʻiola Services embraces the Laws of Ola—traditional pillars of wellness including rest, diet, cleansing, meditation, reflection, prayer, and movement. These practices are not just symbolic—they’re part of real, accessible healing for the Waimānalo community and beyond.
Traditional Hawaiian Massage for Deep Healing
Maʻiola’s lomilomi services are delivered by licensed massage therapists trained in both traditional and clinical techniques. Their approach is rooted in the Pāola (quick healing) method, which focuses on pressure points, posture alignment, and energy renewal—helping patients manage pain, restore balance, and reconnect to their bodies with aloha.
Healing Through Plants, Place, and Purpose
Through one-on-one consultations, community education, and herbal support like teas and salves, Maʻiola’s lāʻau lapaʻau program helps patients reconnect to ancestral knowledge and the land that sustains us. This is not just about remedies—it’s about restoring the relationship between mind, body, spirit, and ʻāina.
Culturally Integrated Pain Management
Hōʻoluʻolu means to soothe, to comfort, to restore. At this one-of-a-kind pain clinic, Native Hawaiian healing modalities are woven into individualized care plans for chronic pain patients. Through lomilomi, lāʻau lapaʻau, and spiritual grounding practices like noʻonoʻo pono (mindful reflection), healing is approached holistically—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Maʻiola isn’t just about healing—it’s about teaching and reclaiming. Their community classes are open to all and include topics such as:
These classes empower individuals and families to practice and preserve ʻike Hawaiʻi in daily life.
Because healing should be local, cultural, and sovereign.
Maʻiola Services represents everything we stand for at Support Local Hawaii: honoring Kānaka Maoli wisdom, making space for culturally rooted care, and putting the health of people and ʻāina first.
From pain relief to deep restoration, Maʻiola helps our communities not just survive—but thrive.
E ola mau nā lāhui me ka ʻike o nā kūpuna.
May our people live on through the wisdom of our ancestors.
